Exciting Events
The calendar of events for this autumn has been filling up, and there’s plenty to get excited about. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the San Diego events worth planning your trip around:
Kids Free San Diego (October 1-31)
If you’re planning to visit San Diego with kids, then Kids Free San Diego is almost too good to be true. All October long you’ll find incredible offers that kids can enjoy for free around the city. There are over 100 deals to take advantage of, including free meals, museum tickets, boat rides, and tours. If you stay with us, kids under 12 eat free throughout October when dining with an adult.
2021 Breeders’ Cup (November 5-6)
The Breeders’ Cup is the year-end international championship for horse racing, so it’s one of the biggest days of the year for the sport. This year, the event is being held at the Del Mar Racetrack — where the surf meets the turf. Bet on your favorite horses, grab drinks at the bar, and enjoy picnic-style seating in the infield. A day at the races is always a good time!
Halloween Happenings (September-October)
If you’re simply waiting for the trick-or-treating on October 31, then you’re doing Halloween all wrong! San Diego hosts plenty of spectacular Halloween events, and a lot of the frightening fun starts as early as September. Visit our famous theme parks for special rides, shows, and experiences — SeaWorld Spooktacular and LEGOLAND’s Halloween in Miniland are great places to start. There are also haunted houses, haunted ships, and haunted cemeteries to explore, plus pumpkin patches for picking out the perfect jack-o’-lantern.
Outdoor Activities
Seeing as the weather is so nice in September, October, and November, this time of year is excellent for enjoying San Diego’s natural beauty. On the warm days, make sure to visit the county’s famous beaches, from the bustling boardwalks to secluded stretches of sand. This is also a great time to explore the area’s hiking trails. Stay by the coast and enjoy Pacific Ocean views (Torrey Pines State Park is a great place to start), or head inland to see some beautiful fall foliage (Palomar Mountain State Park, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park).
